Bogen handler om Buddhaens liv, og beskriver stille og roligt Siddhartha Gautamas 80 år fra fødslen til hans paranirvana, både gennem Buddhaens øjne og gennem øjnene af en lille bøffel-dreng.
Bogen er skrevet som en historie, men indeholder mange belæringer fra Sutraerne. Bogen er rigtig god til nybegyndere, og folk der vil læse om Buddhas liv og belæringer. Bogen er skrevet i et nemt forståeligt sprog og er mest baseret på Theravada men indeholder også lidt Mahayana. Kan klart anbefales til alle interesserede i buddhisme.
