Om Mani Padme Hum - Heart Sutra

OM MANI PADME HUM

Another meaning, which is incorporated into Chenrezigs mantra OM MANI PADME HUM is the Perfection of Wisdom Heart Sutra.

OM MANI PADME HUM has 6 syllables, which can be interpreted as the Heart Sutra's description of emptiness:

No eye, no ear, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind

no visual form, no sound, no smell, no taste, no object of touch, no mental objects

no visual consciousness, no auditory consciousness, no olfactory consciousness, no taste consciousness, no tactile consciousness, no mental consciousness

Om Mani Padme Hum for the deceased

OM MANI PADME HUM

When people we know die, like family, friends and so, we can recite Chenrezigs mantra Om Mani Padme Humand that is like a rainbow bridge that leads them in the right direction. To a human rebirth, where they can get everything they need to develop.

Every colour of light closes a door to a certain rebirth. White light (OM) closes the door to a rebirth as a deva. The green light (MA) closes the door to a rebirth as an asura. Yellow light (NI) is a human rebirth, which is what we wish for, but a suitable human rebirth with optimal conditions to practice. With access to education, health, dharma etc. The turqoise light (PAD) closes the door to the animal realm (sometimes a grayish light). The red light (ME) closes the door to the preta realm, the hungry ghosts. The blue/black light (HUM) closes the door to the hell realms, a rebirth as a narak hell-being.

Especially if people die a not so good death, an accident, suicide, this is really good practice. We send a lot of light and incense together with Om Mani Padme Hum.

Migchey Chenrezig for Eye diseases

If you are having problems with your eyes, or have an eye disease, it is beneficial to do Migchey Chenrezig practice, or Chenrezig who opens the eyes.

This practice cannot only help heal eye problems, but can also be done, when one does not have eye problems, to open one's third eye or Wisdom Eye.

See the practice here..

This form of Chenrezig is white and has four arms. He has to hands in front of his heart in the open eyes mudra. The other two hands hold a vase to wash the impurities from your eyes and a mirror to see reality with wisdom (emptiness). He stands on a lotus flower with a moon cushion, with a peaceful face and the 6 jewels of a Bodhisattva (representing the 6 Perfections).
