Whoever being depraved, devoid of self-control and truthfulness, should don the monk's yellow robe, he surely is not worthy of the robe.

Koreansk filminstruktør Kim Ki-duks film Forår, Sommer, Efterår, Vinter….og Forår er en af de smukkeste film jeg nogensinde har set.
Så vanvittig smuk i sin enkelthed, og alligevel meget kompleks og dyb.
Der er meget få personer i filmen og meget lidt dialog. Hele filmen foregår omkring et flydende buddhistisk tempel på en sø i et koreansk naturområde. Naturen er ufattelig smuk filmet.
Man kan sige meget om denne film med hensyn til det cykliske liv, lidelse, karma, buddhisme osv., men man skal egentlig bare se den. En stille aften, hvor man ikke vil blive forstyrret. Den vil imponere.
The Garden
The Garden, skrevet af Geshe Michael Roach er en god begynderbog i tibetansk buddhisme, skrevet på engelsk. Bogen gennemgår basalt set tusinde år (tibetansk) buddhistisk visdom, fortalt gennem parablen af en ung mand i en have, hvor han møder forskellige buddhistiske Mestre, såsom Mestre Shantideva og Kamalasila).
Bogen er en meget kort og meget forenklet forklaring af mange Buddhistiske kernelæresætninger, såsom de Fire Ædle Sandheder, den Ottefoldige Sti, Meditation, Karma, og Tomhed, og dermed en udmærket bog for nybegyndere. Bogen er en god introduktion og kan være en appetitvækker for mere.

Just as a storm cannot prevail against a rocky mountain, so Mara can never overpower the man who lives meditating on the impurities, who is controlled in his senses, moderate in eating, and filled with faith and earnest effort.

Just as a storm throws down a weak tree, so does Mara overpower the man who lives for the pursuit of pleasures, who is uncontrolled in his senses, immoderate in eating, indolent, and dissipated.

Magnifying glass
Even though sunbeams are very hot
without a magnifying glass, they can't ignite a fire.
It is the same with the blessings of the Buddhas:
Without the guru, they cannot enter the disciple !
